Bento

Last night the unthinkable happened.

Okay backing up a little – since Torrance and I both have iPhones I swear we had like 5 wall chargers. I distinctly remember running one over with the vaccuum cleaner so okay, 4. But anyway since we have moved in I have only ever been able to find one so the others must have gotten left behind or something. So every night we fight over the one charger and only one of our phones ever gets fully charged.

Well our one charger got a short last week and has been working intermittently. Last night it completely stopped when both our phones were dead. I dont even have anything use as an alarm clock! Sad! Being crafty I ended up googling alarm clocks and found onlineclock.net and leaving my computer up all night on my nightstand so we would wake up on time.

Anyway, I ran to the store this morning to buy a charger and they were on sale so I bought 2 so we no longer have to play tug of war with it everynight!

—————–

I am weirdly excited about my post today. It goes somewhat in line with my post yesterday about meal planning, (loved hearing your responses by the way!!) but more focusing on lunch. Okay in particular I just really wanted to share my awesome lunch box ;)

"What are you? 8? Grow up"

Sarah, one of my most favorite bloggers, ironically posted about lunch yesterday too, and after my meal planning post yesterday, I felt like it was a good time to rekindle my my love for lunch. It is probably the most neglected meal of mine (I always eat lunch, but dont put a lot of thought into it).

Back in Alaska I was always excited about lunches and put more thought into them, mostly because I was forced to plan ahead. I worked a part time job in the morning before I went to the office and would leave the house at 5am and not return until 6pm (yeah I was crazy or something obviously) so I always packed my breakfast and lunch for the day, usually the night before).

So for lunch, I bought this beauty.

That my friends, is a bento box. Some of you probably already know what they are but they are genius. Removable compartments for packing lunch?? It even has cute little silverware and a mini compartment that has a lid for dressing and/or dips.

Tons of places sell them but I bought mine from laptoplunches.com. They have tons of variations, cases, color assortments, etc.

You better believe that this was one of the few items I brought along with me when we moved. I mean obviously this lunch box is more important than a coffee table.

So yesterday, I pulled it out of the cabinet, dusted it off, and packed my lunch in it.

(ignore all the water spots) That is a turkey and roast beef sandwich (the other half is stacked underneathe) on a sandiwch thin, wheat thins, hummus, and grapes.

If you go to that website, they have tons of really fun and creative ideas pictured! Here are a few I snagged from their site…. (click here to go directly to photo gallery that I took these from)

Kind of fun huh? The website gives a lot of healthy ideas too!

Have a great (and productive) hump day!

——————–

Do you pack your lunch? If so, what do you carry your lunch in?

Do you remember any of your lunchboxes from when you were little?

I remember one of my favorite was a red Toy Story lunchbox I had!! Ahh, the good old days.

The description of your missing/dying phone chargers and the computer alarm clock totally had me laughing haha TOO funny! But I’m sure it was a little bit stressful too… but something to laugh about in hindsight I hope :-D

I work alone and have a kitchen here at work so I just stock up on stuff to leave at the office for lunches. It is SUPER convenient!

LOVE the Bento box. Did you like using it today?

I don’t recall any of my childhood lunch boxes but I do CURRENTLY own a Hello Kitty lunch box (okay… 2 Hello Kitty lunch boxes!) haha no judging please ;)

that does sound super convenient! We have a kitchen here but i actualyl always forget to bring stuff in!

Haha and i was actually laughing at us last night (and this morning when the computer online alarm was going off) about this phone charger thing because we were trying to like tape the cord so it would stay in one spot and stop shorting out. we spent a good 10 minutes on it i think. sad huh?

I want one! Love the little compartments- do they come with lids? I have tupperware like that but since I eat at various times throughout the work day I would rather have one where they compartments are removable like yours.

    • Yeah!!! They come with lids too! :) and you can buy just the compartments of various sizes too to mix n match. I actually bought a couple replacement compartments at one point because I misplaced the lids!
