The Last Random Post….of 2011.

Yes, I am working today (maybe a short day, we will see) but I do have Monday off again! Wee!

Last nights workout was somewhat of a mellow one – and there were only 4 of us as well. Again, the 5:30 group before us was huge, I think people have different schedules with the holidays and are taking advantage of being able to go in earlier (those lucky ducks).

We did lunges with a medicine ball twist, rows using the TRX straps, bus drivers (dislike!) (which entail holding a large round weight out in front of you, arms straight and twisting like a steering wheel), planks with an alternating leg extension to the side, and a kettlebell counter balance that looked like this (bringing leg back down as you come up to a resting position)

We of course did a few other moves, but those were the ones that stuck out to me. We did a first round of 1 minute at each station, and then took a group break and then did another round of 30 seconds at each with a water station, and then the last 2 rounds were 30 seconds at each station nonstop until we were done.

When I got home I was feeling particularly extra hungry. I had a very strange craving for cheese (okay, I’m always craving cheese)…. so nachos it was!

I diced a chicken breast and cooked it real quick in a pan with a little taco seasoning and olive oil, and heated some black beans. On a cookie sheet I laid out a layer of chips and covered with beans and cheese, baked in oven for about 2 minutes to melt cheese, and then added another layer of chips with more beans and chicken and cheese and then another 2 minutes in the oven to melt. I topped with some fresh sliced tomatoes (Torrance adds jalapeno to his – ew!) with some sour cream and salsa mixed on the side for dipping. It hit the spot!

And just for fun, look what I made for breakfast.

Egg sandwich with a poached egg, mozzarella cheese, and turkey (I see a cheesy theme).

Now, time for the last random ramblings of the year!

Random #1: I miss spotted dog.
I miss all my friends back in Alaska of course, and my father-in-law, but I really do miss his dog.

This dog is significant because Torrance’s dad used to HATE dogs. Hate. When I first got Kona he hated when I brought her over. And then after about a month he loved Kona. And then about 2 years after loving Kona, he got his own dog. Meet Puppo.

Kona misses her too, they were BFF’s.

I even sent her a little toy for Xmas… so she knows I am thinking about her.

Random #2: New Years…
I have no idea what we have planned to kick off the new year (which yes I realize New Years Eve is tomorrow…) And expect to see a 2011 year recap soon! Oh… and another with some awesome goals (resolutions, whatever) for 2012!

2011 seriously flew by…I think it has something to do with the fact that we spent half of it moving across the country, and the other half settling into our new home. Personally, I am really, really looking forward to 2012!

Random #3: Getting married seems stressful.
Actually, let me rephrase: Having a wedding seems stressful. (This truly is a very random thought). Any of my friends will tell you I am just not the person that is into bridal showers, wedding stuff, and especially not baby showers. They are the things I do and grin and bear it (sometimes) to be supportive for a friend or family member.

I know we will get married and I am happy to do so, it is just the wedding part. I know people say “oh the stress is worth it… best day of my life…etc” which is awesome, but it just really isnt me, stress or no stress. I think I will have a small wedding at my parents resort in Belize, or maybe I will just head off to Vegas ;)

Random #4: It is time…
To get a washer and dryer. We decided we are going to go look for some finally. Im sick of hiking up and down the 3 flights of stairs 490583490 times in a weekend to do laundry.

My laundry room probably (and by probably, I mean for sure) wont look like that, but sure is cute huh? (picture from laundryroomideas.com)

Random #5: Musack
Okay, I wont truck to be fancy, I mean music. Our trainer puts together (awesome) playlists for training but he also gets sick of his stuff and lets us do our own. He (so nicely) volunteered me to put some together on my ipod for next week. I have done a few here and there for something different. I have my go to songs and playlists… (um the best workout song ever, and Spice Girls, Offspring, Beastie Boys) but somehow I dont feel that everyone will love this also. So… in comments I want to hear some of your favorite songs to workout to so I can have some more variety!

 ————————————

  • Favorite workout songs you are diggin right now?
Some of my current workout favs include: Good Feeling (Flo Rida), I Like to Move It (Madagascar movie), She Wolf (Shakira), Bleed It Out (Linkin Park), Survive (Rise Against), Temperature (Sean Paul), All I Do Is Win (T-Pain)
  • Have you ever lived anywhere where you had to take your laundry somewhere else to do it?
Just this one time, and luckily it is just temporary since our apartment has a laundry room with hookups in it they just dont supply the washer and dryer and we have to buy them.
  • Do you enjoy weddings/bridal showers/baby showers/etc?

When it comes to workout music to pump me up I really like rock. Try “undead” by Hollywood Undead or “renegades of funk” by Rage Against The Machine.

And I’m right with you on all the shower stuff, they can be painful to sit through and vomit inducing at times, especially the games.

  4. I love weddings. Not sure about the showers & other parts. They can be a little awkward. Lol. Planning a wedding is a little stressful. Definitely keep it small!! I once had a maid to do my laundry for three years. We didn’t have a drier or reliable electricity, but having someone fold my laundry was AWESOME!

  5. I am ridonculously jealous that you are getting a washer and dryer! In the apartment we live in now we have to go to the laundrymat… which is pure hell for me… especially considering I run everyday. It gets gross real quick. This is the first apartment I have lived in, in years, that does not have a washer dryer. I dream about cute laundry rooms like that haha

I have to admit without shame that I LOVE weddings. I love dressing up, drinking, and celebrating love/life with my friends and family… I don’t understand super expensive weddings though. i would rather spend the money on the party after! And hopefully a sweet vacation :-D

    happy New year, Andrea!

    • I agree, a killer vacation definitely takes the cake (kind of literally).
And happy new year to you too!

  6. I am prettttty sure I have that laundry room pinned on Pinterest. I want that laundry room. I love everything about it. But of course, my laundry room will never look like that.
I also want that spotted dog! So cute!

Nope, not really a fan of any sort of shower…though baby showers may be the lowest on my list. I do like showers for the food though. And I do really like that bridal shower game where you make a wedding dress out of toilet paper! That is always a fun time.

    Happy New Year!!!
