Calling All Snackers
Morning!
It is such a nice day out today. A nice break from the cold and blah weather we have had… from the sounds of it, most everywhere has a little bit of blah weather right now though!
For breakfast I am enjoying some oats with bananas and frozen strawberries as usual…and listening to some Jack Johnson on Pandora.
I was happy to hear in your comments from yesterday that a lot of you agreed dress pants are much more comfortable to wear sitting at a desk all day! I definitely agree jeans can be a little constrictive.

Yesterday I spilt half my coffee in the morning (surprisingly not on me… luck!) and I was feeling a little chilly in the office so I took a mid morning break to head around the corner to Starbucks.
Much mo’ better.
And with that, I ended up taking a little bit of a late lunch. I enjoyed a re-creation (to-go version!) of my veggie and chicken sausage mix from a dinner last week.
I realize that does not look very appetizing, but I assure you it was delish.
And after work I managed to venture off to training.
Let me tell you, last night’s mix kicked my ass! We had 2 new people in our group at 6:30 and I heard one of the 5:30 people talking to someone else in private (yeah I was eavesdropping) and say “oh man, today is going to be a really rough first day for those people!”
Some moves included: A jumping lunge using some stability bars to push ourself up, balance boards, undercuts using resistance bands, halos using a kettle bell, pull ups with TRX straps, overhead dumbbell press with a leg lift, planks, squats with holding a medicine ball (arms extended), and a lovely push up using the stability ball.
That stability ball moves killed me. It is hard. I would do a couple of push ups and then wouldn’t be able to do anymore so ended up just holding the position like the above picture. It was a good one nonetheless. My trainer did note that he can tell my upper body is getting stronger because I do a lot better with push ups, pull ups, etc now. And I do feel stronger, though I can still tell that my arms feel a little weak, especially with moves involving lifting over my head.
As soon as I arrived home, Torrance said he was starving. I knew I wanted to make something simple – so steak and shrimp tacos it was!
In the mix:
- Lowfat Chobani in place of sour cream,
- shrimp and little steak
- lettuce
- tomato
- shredded cheese
- Newman’s own salsa
And you better bet I had two of these bad boys (girls? I don’t know).

Lets talk about snacks real quick – I need some more snack ideas! I usually eat a snack between meals and per my trainer, he says I eat lunch and dinner too far apart and probably need 2 snacks in between them.
I always end up eating the same snacks over and over:
- Pita chips and humus
- apple sauce
- fruit (usually banana, orange, grapes, or frozen strawberries)
- wheat thins and nut butter
- yogurt
I wish I could eat more fruits and raw veggie or nuts (Im a little limited due to food allergies), I feel like it would make my snacking much easier! I would kill for an apple and peanut butter, or to be able to munch on baby carrots! But since I cant I am trying to be creative… So I need ideas from you!
PS – Kona is upset she hasn’t made an appearance on the blog for a while so she wanted to say hello.
She loves that damn stuffed dog… she carries it around like it is her own baby puppy and licks it nonstop. And when I take it away from her she barks at me. Turd.
Okay ciao for now!

i feel like i’m more of a snacker then anything else amusingly enough (its probably why some of my meals do seem small, bc i’m always snacking)
i do eat alot of fruit as a snack…but other things include WASA crackers with a wedge of laughing cow cheese, a stick of string cheese, popcorn, frozen fruit bars, small portion of nuts, granola bars, specialty bars like luna, larabars, cliff bars, dry cereal, square of dark chocolate…ahh yeah, i’m a total snacker
i need to really incorporate more of the simple gym equipment into my workouts
the bosu balance ball is probably my favorite that i havent used for a while!
I always forget about granola bars, they would be good to satisfy my afternoon sweet tooth too!
my favorite snacks are greek yogurt smoothies and carrots and hummus! I also love cottage cheese mixed with cucumber and grape tomatoes and a little salt and pepper!
OO cottage cheese is something I havent had in a LONG time… i may need to bring that back into my life
I’m actually not a huge snacker (though I’m trying to snack more), and I usually end up eating what you already put down. That workout sounds awesome though. I love going to this TRX boot camp because we do a ton of stuff on the TRX, but we incorporate a lot of the other equipment that you used.
are you liking the TRX training? Ive never used them until I started this training program and they are surprisingly good and I find the moves that we use them for tend to be some of the more difficult ones for me!
I love smoothies as a snack!!! So refreshing. Otherwise I’ll just go for leftovers. If I’m dying after the gym, I shove a few pretzels in while I’m making dinner!! Sometimes I eat little baggies of dry cereal.
cereal is a good one!
Granola bars, hummus, protein bars, pretzels, yogurt. All kind of original, but they are my go-to snacks!
GIRL! Push ups on stability balls are INTENSE. I still have yet to be able to do a handful of them consistently.. They are no joke! You should be so proud of the progress you’re making!
Vitatops – they are FANTASTIC!
1) I LOVE Jack Johnson! His music always makes me happy!
2) Kona is adorable–lovelovelove!
3) I think your dinner looks yummmy!
4) My favorite snacks right now are kettle corn, popcorn in general, apples with almond butter, or pears.
