Hair Cut, Kale, & Willow Smith
Man am I on a roll this week with my post titles or what?! (Ha, only kidding)
It is absolutely gorgeous outside today! Already almost 70 degrees at 8:30! When it is warm and humid like this I feel like I am on vacation (well until I get to work!) because Im not all the way used to it yet after moving.
But I like it and I’ll take it!
Random #1: Ooooopsie
Last night I was being awesome and helping Torrance cut his hair. He always cuts his own hair with clippers/a buzzer and then I trim up the back on his hairline and neck etc.
Well, I was cutting the back with the buzzer, getting all close on his neck and such (it turned out marvelous if I do say so myself). So when I was done, I was holding the clippers as he brushed his neck off and I asked him “how do you turn this off?….” and then I whipped my head around and I heard the buzzers go.
I took off a chunk off the side/end of my ponytail. Ooooops. Torrance says he would have killed for a picture of my face and me staring at the chunk of hair that fell onto the counter.
I’m not gonna lie, I didn’t take my hair out of the ponytail to check out the damage for a while… when I finally decided to check it out. The missing chunk was right toward the front (just my luck). I trimmed it a little bit extra with scissors so it wasn’t so square looking. There’s about a 1 inch spot that is 2 inches shorter than the rest.
Random #2: I want to eat Kale
I’ve been reading about all the benefits of kale. I like it, but I don’t really know what to do with it. I’m not really a fan of it roasted/chip style. Teach me the ways.

Random #3: The best things ever
Finding money. It is the best feeling ever. In a jacket pocket, in a pair of jeans, or between the console and the seat in my messy truck:
Finding money is a close 2nd to the feeling you get when you wake up in the middle of the night and look at the clock only to realize you still have a few hours left to sleep (I don’t think anything tops that).

Random #4: Some of my favorite posts this week
I just wanted to share a couple posts I am lovin’ from other bloggers this week:
- Tina answered some questions about CrossFit. Lots of info if it is something you are interested in!
- Lindsey shared her [hilarious] thoughts on “what if you could Google anything?”
- Lauren shared an awesome looking recipe for Shrimp & Brown Riced Stuffed Peppers. I havent gotten to try yet, but its on the list because it sounds and looks fabulous!
- Courtney shared a recipe for some pretty unique and amazing looking cookies (they involve chocolate and peanut butter, go look!)
Lastly, this one gets a little extra notice.
The lovely Alyssa got her stitches out and has put together this little picture in effort to spread word on skin cancer awareness. Pin it, Facebook it, Tweet it, email it, whatever. Just share it.
I shared my thoughts about skin cancer awareness (along with my confession of using tanning beds for years) a few weeks ago here.
Random #5: Kona’s jam
Kona does not like Willow Smith.
There is a commercial that has her song “I whip my hair back and forth, I whip my hair back and forth!” on it, and anytime it comes on, Kona whines and chases her tail. I have assumed she hates it. Kona never chases her tail so this is bazaar.
But now I wonder….maybe she really likes it and is dancing?

I dont have much for weekend plans (besides training tonight). Hopefully this good weather keeps up and I can spend some time outside!
Have a good day!
- What is your favorite way to eat kale?
- What is one of your “best feeling ever” moments?
- Weekend plans?

LOL oh my gosh..that hair story is crazy funny…and it TOTALLY sounds like something that would happen to me!
ive seen kale pop up on a couple of blogs too..i hear kale chips is a fun way to eat it, i’d def love to try it out myself.
agreed, waking up in the middle of the night and finding out you have a couple more hours to sleep IS the best feeling in the world!
weekend plans include..running, celebrating kevins sisters birthday and probably alot of eating
HAPPY FRIDAY!
thanks for sharing the info on skin cancer awareness. you rock, andrea!
have a great weekend
My best feeling in the world is AFTER I get in my workout; I feel so liberated and free. This is probably why I should start working out in the mornings…
Your hair story reminds me of when my brother babysat me when I was little. I thought it would be fun to cut my hair while he was watching TV; I then hid it under my bed where my mom found it. My brother never babysat again and I was taken to get my hair professional cut from there on out.
Oh my goodness, your hair! I love that you’re such a great sport about it too because a lot of girls would probably shut themselves away from the world for years until it grew back or they got it cut again. I personally think it’s a good look for you
haha well, my hair isnt exactly a work of art anyway. I trimmed it up with scissors a little in that spot so it wasnt so blunt and straight cut so it blends a little better. i tussle it around and give it the “messy look” which helps camoflauge it! haha
I’m trying to learn what to do with kale too. I saw a recipe for chicken soup with kale: http://inthelittleredhouse.blogspot.com/2012/01/eat-your-greens.html
oh yum! thanks for sharing!
Oh my gosh! I bet you were in shock after you chopped that hair off!
I’ve heard that kale smoothies are fantastic: delicious, nutritious and not too kale-tasting, apparently. I haven’t tried them yet myself, but these recipes look amazing. http://www.smoothie-handbook.com/kale-recipes.html
Hahaha, ohh Andrea. I like you. That is definitely something that I would do. Your poor hair.
I actually don’t think I’ve ever tried kale… I keep meaning to buy it but, meh.
Best feeling ever is definitely waking up hours before the alarm! I love that!
Thanks for the shout out
The idea of Kona “dancing” to that Willow Smith song had me laughing out loud in the college library!
