Balance Discs & Breakfast Veggies
At the last-minute at work, my boss decided to let us leave work 30 minutes early. This was good news for obvious reasons, but also because it meant I could rush home and go to the 5:30 training instead of 6:30; which meant I could be home earlier all together of course!
The workout was much needed after eating a ton of food over the weekend.
The moves last night included: squats with a side chop, dumbbell shrugs, push up with a hip twist (<–these were really hard for me!), halos with a kettle bell, seal jacks, tucks using the hanging rings, lateral reaches with a medicine ball, and one footed balance on balance discs.
I actually had a reader email me the other day and ask what exactly a “balance disc” (that I have mentioned we used at times) was.
That’s exactly what it is. We do squats on them quite a bit….
After that, I did not really feel like cooking dinner to be honest, so I kept things simple. Baby peas, chicken breasts, sliced tomatoes, and left over twice baked potatoes.
It felt good to eat normal again yesterday
instead of shoveling food into my pie hole. Breakfast was of course an almond butter and banana sandwich, and lunch consisted of a salad with some leftover ham.
And this morning? Well this morning it was time for a smoothie!
Not my usual banana and coffee smoothie though, but a green(ish) one instead.
In the mix is:
- 1 cup of spinach
- 1 banana (I would have used frozen but I didnt have any in the freezer!)
- a couple frozen strawberries
- about a tsp of honey
- almond milk
- 6 large ice cubes
- 1 scoop of protein powder (vanilla)
I think this is the only good way for me to get vegetables in at breakfast. Though I have been meaning to include spinach on my egg sandwiches – I just forget :)
- Have you ever used balance discs in your workout? What about Bosu balls?
- Do you incorporate veggies into your breakfast? How? Teach me the ways!
- Do you like peas? Least favorite vegetable?
My least fav is Brussel sprouts. I for some reason just dont like the taste or texture!
