Best Music of the 2000’s
Thank you guys for all your comments yesterday on the food allergy post! Sounds like some of you feel my pain of missing out on some good stuff since you have some food allergies of your own!
Well, I did get off a little early yesterday, which worked out kind of well because once afternoon hit I honestly wasnt feeling well – so I ended up heading home and relaxing. I took Kona for a long walk and then got sucked into VH1’s 3 hour-long special on “the 100 best songs of the 2000’s.
Ah, memory lane.
I dont know if it is just me, but whenever they were talking about “oh this song is 10 years old now” I 1) cant believe some songs are that old already (hello Lady Marmalade) and 2) I think “oh 10 years ago was like 1996!” Oh no, it was 2002. I forget how fast time is flying by!
I learned a lot while watching it. Dont make fun of me for this – but I never realized that Gnarls Barkley was not a person/singer. I felt like a big dummy when I learned it was the duo of Cee Lo Green & Danger Mouse. I just thought it was a cool guy with a cool name. Geesh. I guess I am just out of the pop culture loop.
Also, I didnt know Johnny Cash recorded his last song 7 months before he died, and that it was basically his own eulogy. I am not a huge johnny Cash fan or anything but I thought the song and music video was pretty crazy.
And if you’re wondering the #1 song was “Crazy In Love” (Beyoncé ft Jay-Z).
You can view the full 100 song list here if you’re interested – it might make you feel old, just a warning.
Anyway, when time rolled around for training I just wasnt feeling up to it so I’m going to definitely have to make it there tonight!
I opted to spend the night doing some household things [boring] and cooked us a little pasta for dinner.
I kept things simple since my stomach was upset – a little lemon garlic angel hair with broccoli, shrimp, and mushrooms.
I’m so excited for this weekend (when am I not?)
It is supposed to be in the 80’s so some pool time is definitely in my future. And Kona is very excited because yesterday when I got home from work this was waiting for me on my door:
Our apartment leasing office and the doggie daycare that is down the road is hosting a doggie ice cream feed this weekend. How fun. So we will definitely be taking our spoiled brown dog down there and then hopefully to the park.
Also, this weekend is mine and Torrance’s nine year anniversary! We dont have any solid plans yet, but I’m thinking we should probably go treat ourselves to some massages and dinner.
Have a good day!
- Any weekend plans?
- Are there any specific songs that really remind you of high school? (I say this because I graduated in 2006 so most of the popular “2000’s” songs I heard yesterday reminded me of high school)
For me, pretty much any Outkast song reminds me of high school.
- What was/will be your workout today?
