Carabba’s, New Truck, & A Sunny Anniversary
Weekend recap time!
I skipped training, and instead, drank a lot of wine and enjoyed the nice weather.
I played Wii boxing because it has been forever since I’ve done that and it makes me laugh because I know I look awesome.
I took Kona on a long walk/run (by run, I mean half ass jog)
And for the big, non-life changing news I mentioned briefly on Friday….
We got a new truck! This is really big news for us, because the truck we had was NOT reliable. There were a number of small things wrong with it. It was the truck we drove down here and that Torrance has owned since he was 18.
Since I now drive a different vehicle and dont have to worry about Internet crazies stalking me, I can now share a picture of our old monster truck.
That was the morning we left out of Alaska on our adventure, by the way.
Anyway, that thing is obviously a big obnoxious beast, and driving through any kind of drive-thrus were out of the picture, and I always had to park way far away because there is no way to squeeze in between anything.
I imagine most of you can relate to this – but shopping for a new used vehicle is kind of stressful. I hate big purchases in general, but a used car is tricky anyway. You never know what you are going to get, and you may not be able to find exactly what you want, where as if you are ordering something brand new, you can order it to the specs you want. Not to mention, Torrance and I also had to reach an agreeance about what to get. We have never been a “one car household,” but since he has his tool truck, there really is no reason for us to have two vehicles, so we had to agree on one that works for everything.
A car is pretty much out because we need something we can tow/haul his dirt bike or the jets skiis with. I, of course wanted an SUV, but we ended up with a nice 4 door truck that is in excellent condition with only 1 previous owner… who we know took very good care of it.
Now we can finally continue on with our adventures, since we were pretty limited to just driving around town in our other truck. My goal was to get a new vehicle by the end of May, so that we can actually go on road trips and check stuff out this summer. Goal met. It took a lot of whining and hinting to Torrance, but it worked.
Anyway, after we went and picked up our new truck, we headed out to Carabba’s for a late dinner for our anniversary celebration.
I love Carabba’s.
I ordered the filet with grilled asparagus and garlic mashed potatoes. WAY too much food. For a filet, the steak was giant, two scoops of mashed potatoes, we pretty much agreed we could have shared one order of that!
While we were waiting for our food, some guy was proposing to his girlfriend up in front of the whole restaurant. I think the girl was in shock, but I almost thought she was going to say no. How sad would that have been. I think she was just really surprised.
I woke up really early and headed out to do my shopping and errands. Which doing errands at 8:30 in the morning on Sunday may be my new favorite thing because there is NO one in my way at the stores. I did my grocery shopping in record time, and Target was pretty much abandoned.
Ugh, Target struck again. I went there for 4 things and was lured in by house decor, $10 sundresses, and new cosmetics.
When I got home, to my surprise, Torrance had cleaned the whole house. He helps out with this sometimes, but the shocking part was that he had done all this before 10:30am, which usually Torrance doesnt even get up until 9 or 10 on Sundays.
Since all the boring stuff was out-of-the-way early, we celebrated our “almost-decade-together” anniversary (9 years) by sipping drinks by the pool since it was 83 degrees!
And just for fun, here is another picture of us from like, 8 years ago.
Oh, and I definitely cant forget – last night I finally perfected my Chocolate Zucchini Cake.
- What was the highlight of your weekend?
- Tell me about the last vehicle you owned (before the one you currently have now). Loved it? Hated it? Was it a heap?
I have only had a couple. I had an Explorer that I sold right before we left Alaska. It was an okay vehicle, it wasnt a heap, but I was definitely happy to see it go.
- How many vehicles have you owned in your life?
I had a 96 Jeep Cherokee when I was 16 that I sold about a year later and bought my Explorer instead, so just those two plus our new truck now.
