A Really Crazy Fun Concert & Grillin’ Time
I have decided that the workweek should be 4 days and the weekend should be 3, always. Doesn’t that just make sense?
I also learned a few things for when we go next year…
- Don’t wear flip flops
- SPF 500 (I put like 5 layers of 50 on and my back still feels tender)
- Don’t start drinking at 11am
- get phone #’s of the people we are with
Yeah, we of course tailgated for quite a while when we first got there.
(I had to sit in the truck with the AC on for a while to cool off and get a break)
This is only about 1/3 of the parking lot.
But they played it smart having the concert at a racetrack (that can accommodate a lot of people). I guess last year the venue was quite a bit more hectic and everyone complained it wasn’t large enough and the lines were super long at concessions and stuff, which is why they moved it elsewhere this year.
There were 3 stages, the 2 up here were obviously the main ones. We actually managed to push our way in pretty close… well as close as we could get without being trampled in the biggest mosh pit I’ve ever seen.
There were people as far as you can see though… a lot passed out too. They opened the gates at 9am and closed around 1am.
Anyone that stayed there that long, I commend them – I have no idea how they did it, especially since there is no re-entry; if you left to go out to your car you couldnt come back.
We arrived around 11 and tailgated out in the parking lot until about 1:30 while we waited for the people we were meeting to show up.
Torrance and I lasted until about 8:30 before we called it a night and drove the 2 hours back home, so we did miss a band that we kinda wanted to see that was playing later, but we saw so many amazing ones that I didn’t even care.
Water in one hand, beer in the other – smart.
Sadly a few hours before we left we got separated from our group…. we went to get food and apparently Torrance’s phone had died and I didn’t have any of the people’s numbers that we had met there (they were in his phone).
And yes, if we would have somehow by luck found them again, it would have been a miracle in that many people.
Anyway, we had a complete blast and the music was AMAZING. I didn’t really have any complaints (besides food and alcohol was expensive, but it always is at these kinds of things) and definitely that there was no re-entry. It would have been nice to get a little relief from the sun and then come back in after.
I don’t have many appropriate pictures to share…. though I took a ton that were very inappropraite. I was like a tourist at the zoo taking pictures of all the animals and exhibits in their rare form….I mean I could show you guys all the hilarious pictures of people passed out next to the porta potties (with us posing with them of course) and the girl who fell asleep with half of her shirt off, but ya know… I’ll spare ya that excitement on a Monday morning.
Sunday was definitely spent sleeping in and lounging. No way I was going to do anything productive. My body ached, my voice was raspy, and my back was sunburnt – so I was 100% okay with recovery mode!
We did manage to finally test out the “community grill” down by the pool at our apartment (since we cant have a grill on our porch). We were just wanting to grill really bad so I marinated a giant steak that we ended up splitting.
Oh how I miss grilling. I’m thinking kabobs for next time!
Have a great Monday! I’m definitely drinking a lot of water today (I’ve been chugging it down like crazy but I feel like my body is still dying for more!) and training tonight which I’m sure is going to be rough!
- Do you have a grill?
- Best thing you ate this weekend?
- Best concert you have ever been to?
This one definitely takes the cake for me!
